Biomimetic Technology Ltd is the "HUB" of the global MHE FR Additive® product business. A natural non-toxic harmless and environmentally friendly flame retardant product development named MHE®, an abbreviation of Molecular Heat Eater®.

MHE® is developed by a low carbon, sustainable innovation technology, only consisting food grade chemicals. Human friendly chemicals as you find in the daily foodstuff like in fruits and bread. It makes MHE® very cost-efficient compared with other flame retardants on the market.

MHE FR Additive® products are marketed as powder particles, gel or liquids.

Polymers, plastic and fibre materials, synthetic as well as natural, is the target for the MHE FR Additive® product integration.

The first MHE FR Additive® product embryo was introduced at the Scandinavian Environmental Competition in December 2003 in Sweden. Since then MHE FR Additives have received a number of international awards in media annually, until 2010.

Chamelic products are based on stimulus responsive polymers to serve the coatings and additives markets. The company was formed in early 2006 and has focussed on smart coatings, with an easy-clean coating being their first product.

Chamelic's technology is based on the knowledge and expertise of Prof. Simon Biggs from The University of Leeds.

LUTO (Leeds University Testing Organisation) is a consumer information testing company, geared towards enabling UK pharma companies to meet the new user testing requirements for medicine information leaflets.

They work in collaboration with pharma companies to develop and test medicine information leaflets to meet the legislative requirements of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). They aim to help patients to use their medicines safely and effectively through information that is clear and understandable.

Medisoft has sold its ophthalmology electronic patient record system to many hospitals in the UK. The software product features rapid data collection, decision support, enables communication with GP's and much more. They are a leading publisher of multimedia CD-ROM's for primary care physicians, medical students, nurses and optometrists.

The Research Capacity Development Programme is funded by the Department of Health (DH) as one of it's National Programmes. It is managed on behalf of the DH by the National Institute for Health Research Trainees Co-ordinating Centre (NIHR TCC). The RCD Programme makes research training awards to individuals who show the potential to become research leaders in their particular field and whose research is people or patient-focused and relevant to the NHS.

NKD are a design company and leading provider of multimedia training materials and developer of training systems, e-learning courses and diagnostic tools to the medical profession. Projects include various melanoma projects (GenoMel, Cancer Research) and Pharmaceutical training diagnostic tools.

Photopharmica develops light sensitive drugs (known as photosensitisers) for the prevention, detection and treatment of diseases for licensing to pharmaceutical companies. The company is based around photodynamic research performed by the Leeds Centre for Photobiology and Photodynamic therapy in the field of therapeutics.

The company's initial focus is on developing therapeutic drugs/applications in four product groups in the areas of infectious diseases and Oncology.

The West Yorkshire Comprehensive Local Research Network (WYCLRN) is one of 25 CLRN's across England, which form part of the Comprehensive Clinical Research Network (CCRN). CCRN provides support for clinical trials and other well designed studies in all areas of disease and clinical need.

X-Lab was set up by Leeds University's programme of Open Innovation in 2007. They are part of the White Rose Health Innovation Partnership and are funded by The University of Leeds Proof of Concept Fund, building on research done in 2006 within the School of Computing. After consultation with several labs in the north of the UK, X-Lab now has a thorough understanding of the problems in the send-away process and throughout pathology and is working on innovative solutions to help solve them.
